For some inexplicable reason I’ve always had a soft spot for U.S. Gold’s 8-bit, action packed game Psycho Pigs UXB. A spot so soft, in fact, that I even produced my own reimagined and much extended version for the Amiga, Turbo Tomato! I was therefore happy (as a pig in …) to learn that a new remake of Psycho Pigs UXB is under way over at Tardis Remakes.

javacpc 6.3 released

Markus has released an updated version of the open source Amstrad CPC emulator package, JavaCPC. JavaCPC powers the Amstrad CPC Online Arcade at one of my other websites, girv dot net. I helped a little with this release by converting the TZX2WAV utility (by Francisco Javier Crespo) from C to Java and integrating it with the JavaCPC sources.

javacpc 6.2 released

Over at CPC-Live, Markus has released an updated version of the JavaCPC open source Amstrad CPC emulator package. JavaCPC powers the Amstrad CPC Online Arcade at one of my other websites, girv dot net.

Version 6.2 of JavaCPC brings the following changes:

  • Bilinear display filtering
  • Tape support
  • YM recorder and player
  • Digitracker
  • Memory size and computer name selectable
  • Automatic and manual update checking
  • Many other bugfixes and improvements

Noldor from CPC Zone has posted some clever source to automatically decrypt Appleby Associates Amstrad CPC tape loader (a.k.a. the “GO! Loader” as it first appeared on U.S. Gold “GO!” branded games). Outwardly these loaders are characterised by a three digit counter smoothly counting down to zero, usually in the bottom left corner of the screen.
