A lunchtime discussion (somehow) got on to the subject of assembly language programming, and I was of course asked “So, what’s it like programming in assembly then?”. I get asked this more often than you’d think as very few developers I run in to have any experience with it and they’re always surprised to meet someone who’s dived below C level…

gravity force whdload 1.00 released

, , , No Comments »

I’ve released a new WHDLoad patch for Kingsoft’s gravity cave fighter, Gravity Force.

The patch fixes the usual collection of keyboard, blitter and access fault problems as well as adding the (equally usual) trainer and anti-copy-protection options. Two versions are supported, the original commercial release (which seems to be very rare!) and the more common PD release. Other “cracked” ADF versions may work but have not been tested and are not supported. In addition, registered WHDLoad users can use the second fire button to fire the ship’s weapons.

Download the patch, instructions and pre-installed image from girv dot net or from the Official WHDLoad Website.

As mentioned in a previous article, I’ve been working on an update to my WHDLoad patch for Tengen’s Hard Drivin’. This version has now been released to the wild!

Support for the “Racing Masters” compilation version has been added, as well as a number of miscellaneous fixes and improvements to the icons and installer script.

I’m still searching for three rare compilation versions of Hard Drivin’ as below:

If you have any of these versions or know where I can get them, please get in touch!
