X-ray crystallographers, radio astronomers and fans of distributed computing efforts alike – rejoice! distributed.net has successfully completed it’s long running “OGR-25″ project to harness the spare capacity of thousands of computers around the world to exhaustively determine the optimal 25-mark Golomb Ruler.

I’ve released a new WHDLoad patch for Electronic Arts’ 3D space exploration and puzzler, Magic Fly.

The patch fixes the usual collection of keyboard, blitter and access fault problems and properly removes the manual protection. Only the original commercial release is supported. Other “cracked” ADF versions may work but have not been tested and are not supported.

Download the patch, instructions and pre-installed image from girv dot net or from the Official WHDLoad Website.

The patch fixes the usual collection of keyboard, blitter and access fault problems, removes the copy protection and, for registered WHDLoad users only, adds trainer options. Two versions are supported, the original commercial release and the Super Quintet compilation release. Other “cracked” ADF versions may work but have not been tested and are not supported.

time out in belfast city hall grounds

I had a bit of spare time in Belfast city centre recently, and, lacking anything better to do, took the chance to grab a coffee (and a tasty snack, I have to admit) and sit awhile in the grounds of the City Hall. As I kicked back and watched the world go by, it struck me what a great resource the little green haven I was sitting in is to both the people of Belfast and to visitors to the city.
