the ie8 prayer

, , May 18th, 2009

Here’s a little verse to recite for all those struggling to develop websites to work Microsoft’s latest and “greatest” web browser, Internet Explorer 8. A “prayer for the d-IE-ing”, if you will.

Our Browser,
Which art after IE7,
Standards are our bane.
Thy crashing come,
Thy loading never done,
On XP as it is in Vista.
Fill us this day with CSS dread.
Frustrate us our layouts,
As we frustrate those who would attempt to parse us.
And lead us not into tabbed browsing,
But deliver us from plugins.
For thine is the processor,
All the disk and the memory,
Download updates forever,
Page not found.

Inspired by @stuartmanning on Twitter, and with apologies to the Lord’s Prayer.
