Schmap is a leading publisher of digital travel guides for 200 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Recently, I was pleased to be informed that a random snap I took of Belfast City Hall grounds with my mobile phone had been included in the 8th edition of the Schmap Belfast Guide in the “Belfast City Centre and Laganside Walk” section.

Schmap Guides are freely available online or for download to your desktop, and more than 90 million have been downloaded since first release in March 2006. Schmap’s technology allows users to publish schmaps (to share trip itineraries, local reviews and more), and powers a popular range of Schmap Widgets syndicating more than 6 million maps, content and event schedules a month to websites and blogs.

Schmap’s automated systems found my snap in my Belfast Flickr Set and contacted me for permission to include it. It’s not even a particularly good picture, since the phone was damaged in a cycling accident and since then the left side of any pictures it takes is blurred. But Schmap seemed to like it all the same and I’m happy for it to be included.
