andy’s retro computers
amiga, amstrad, retro, review, web August 14th, 2009If, like me, you like your old computers, you could do an awful lot worse than pay a visit to Andy’s Retro Computers, a site of “vintage computers and other stuff”.
The eponymous Andy describes himself as a “collector of vintage computers”. He shares his home with an impressive collection of these old-time machines, one that’s growing all the time. Some are brands you’ll know well, such as Amstrad CPCs, Commodore VIC-20s and various models of Apples and Amigas, but others you may not be so familiar with such as the Dragon, Tatung or GRiDPad machines.
There’s an extensive photo gallery too, so you can drool over retrocomputing porn, and some ever useful vintage computer pinout diagrams for DIY soldering reference.
As a special project, he’s even managed to cram a PC running the VICE emulator into the case of a VIC-20!
Andy is very much involved in the UK retrocomputing scene, having donated items to the Retro Computer Museum in Leicestershire and time and expertise to the Centre For Computing History in Suffolk, amongst other things. The site will often feature news and reviews of retro shows across the UK.
Quite a collection, you’ll agree! I’m officially jealous – I only wish I’d the space and free time for a collection like this.
Visit Andy’s Retro Computers, and feel the nostalgia.
